Dr. Jackson is a licensed psychologist who maintains a private practice in Washington, DC. With her emphasis on health and wellness, she has helped many individuals set and achieve goals to manage and enhance the quality of their lives. Dr. Jackson specializes in the treatment of eating, weight and body image issues, depression, anxiety, and stress management. In addition, she offers consultation services to the media and organizations regarding health and wellness as well as body image issues.
Prior to starting her practice, Dr. Jackson applied her expertise in health and wellness to the policy arena. She served as a professional staffer in the United States Senate where she drafted legislation and organized congressional hearings on organizational and community-based efforts for health promotion, and obesity and chronic disease prevention. She also served as a science policy fellow at the Office of Science and Technology Policy, Executive Office of the President.
Dr. Jackson earned her B.A. degree in psychology from Vanderbilt University, and completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Kent State University. She completed her clinical internship and postdoctoral training in eating disorders and obesity prevention at Yale University School of Medicine. She has published scholarly work and has extensively presented on mental health, health promotion, and disease prevention issues.
